Part One: How should I decide which business major is right for me?

If business sparked your interest during high school and now you want to decide which business major to choose from among all the various options, here’s some help! Your choice should vary based on your skill set, interests, and strengths. 


Accounting 

        As an accounting major, you will have the opportunity to study the analysis and management of financial documents, tax law, financial documentation of both businesses and individuals, and more. Some of the courses for an accounting major include cost accounting, auditing, financial analysis, etc. Beyond the degree, you have the chance to take the certified public account licensure exam. Potential job titles for those majoring in accounting include accountants, auditors, tax interns, and financial analysts. 


Marketing

If you decide to major in marketing, you will learn how purchasing decisions are made, how to target consumer behavior through advertising, product pricing, profit-maximizing, and much more. The coursework for a marketing major involves marketing communications, digital marketing, consumer behavior, marketing management, etc. Those with marketing majors have various job options, such as marketing specialists, social media marketers, and marketing research analysts. 


When studying as a finance major, you will learn the basics of finance, asset management, investments, how to make long-term plans, project management, the principles of business, and so on. The courses that come with a finance major consist of financial management, and financial statement analysis, among others. Additionally, you will learn accounting and statistics, usually used for financial analysis. Possible job titles for those with finance majors comprise of financial analyst, investment banking analyst, private equity associate, and hedge fund investment strategist.
